Emergency Dentist
If you have a toothache that keeps you awake, a broken tooth, facial swelling, or a lost crown, call your nearest practice and we will see you as soon as we can. Same-day availability is confirmed per practice, so call directly rather than waiting for it to pass on its own.
What counts as a dental emergency?
- A toothache that keeps you awake or won’t settle with painkillers
- A broken, cracked or knocked-out tooth
- Facial swelling, or an abscess
- A lost crown, filling or denture repair
What it is and who it's for
Emergency dental care treats a dental problem that can’t wait for a routine appointment. Call your nearest practice first and describe what’s happened; the team will tell you the soonest appointment they can offer, whether that means pain relief today or a same-day repair.
How treatment works
-
Call your practice
Ring the number for your nearest TG’s and describe what’s happened. The team will advise on the soonest appointment.
-
Assessment
We identify the cause of the pain or damage, taking an X-ray if needed, and explain the options.
-
Treatment
We treat the immediate problem: pain relief, a temporary filling, or a repair, then agree any follow-up treatment with you.
What you can expect
- A phone call gets you straight through to your nearest practice
- Assessment, and pain relief or temporary treatment, on the day where possible
- A clear plan for any follow-up treatment once the emergency is under control

Common questions
Can I be seen the same day?
Call as early as you can and we will see you as soon as possible. The number for your nearest TG’s is on our Areas We Serve pages, and the team will tell you the soonest appointment they can offer.
What happens if a tooth can’t be saved?
If extraction is unavoidable, we’ll talk you through replacement options such as a dental implant, bridge or denture once the emergency has been treated.
What if I have a dental emergency outside opening hours?
Call your practice’s usual number. Outside opening hours, the voicemail gives a mobile number for dental emergencies.
