Dental Bridges
A dental bridge fills the gap left by one or more missing teeth with an artificial tooth anchored to the natural teeth either side. It’s custom-made to match your smile and, with proper care, can last up to 15 years or more.
What it is and who it's for
A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth with an artificial tooth anchored to the natural teeth on either side of the gap. It suits patients with healthy teeth either side of the gap, who want a fixed rather than removable replacement.
What it can help with
- Maintaining facial structure
- Preventing jaw shrinkage
How treatment works
-
Choosing your bridge type
Sometimes the teeth either side of the gap are prepared for crowns, with the bridge cemented onto them. In other cases we use a resin-bonded bridge, which attaches to your natural teeth using metal brackets instead.
-
Preparing the teeth
The teeth either side of the gap are prepared, sometimes for crowns, to anchor the bridge securely.
-
Fitting
Your custom-made bridge is cemented onto the prepared teeth, closing the gap with an artificial tooth that matches your smile.
-
Aftercare
Brushing, flossing and an antiseptic mouthwash, plus regular check-ups, help your bridge last as long as possible.
What you can expect
- Fixed in place, no removing it to clean, unlike a denture
- Restores your ability to eat and speak without difficulty
- Helps prevent neighbouring teeth shifting into the gap
- Custom-made to match your natural teeth

Common questions
Does having a bridge fitted hurt?
Fitting a bridge is designed to be comfortable. We use local anaesthetic to numb the area during the procedure so you’re comfortable throughout.
How long do dental bridges last?
With proper care and maintenance, a dental bridge can last up to 15 years or more. Regular check-ups and good oral hygiene help it go the distance.
How do I look after a bridge?
Brush your teeth and bridge twice a day, floss daily and use an antiseptic mouthwash, and avoid hard or sticky foods that could damage or dislodge it.
